Cartographie

  • Martijn van Exel discute de Maproulette sur le Blog OpenStreetMap @ Telenav. Il pense que la page des nouveaux défis les plus populaires n’est pas particulièrement facile à utiliser. Il demande des suggestions pour rendre plus facile dans MapRoulette la recherche de nouveau défis par l’utilisateur.

  • Pander a proposé sur la liste de discussion Tagging quelques améliorations au preset JOSM pour natural = tree. Voir aussi les discussions sur le Billet Vespucci github.

  • Stuart Reynolds demande sur la liste de discussion Talk-gb si “St” dans le nom doit être abrégé ou non.

  • Vivek Bansal de la Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority veut créer une tâche sur le Gestionnaire des tâches US permettant d’ajouter la clé trottoir = * tags pour l’ensemble du comté de Santa Clara, Californie.

  • Mapillary invite à participer à un mapathon le 3 août à Medellín pour améliorer la couverture photographique le long des rues.

  • Mapillary souligne le Mapathon d’été pour les Bus et publie un tutoriel (en) sur « Comment cartographier les routes de bus et infrastructures sur OpenStreetMap ».

  • Le « Cartographe du mois » choisi par OpenStreetMap Belgique est Jamie Nadeau du Canada alias LogicalViolinist.

  • Le concours « OpenStreetMap Awards » est de retour. C’est le temps pour vous de voter et soutenir non seulement un mais plusieurs candidats. C’est ce que l’on appelle le Vote par approbation. Le candidat avec le plus de points est élu. Pour en savoir plus à ce sujet, voir le blog OSM.

OSM et l’humanitaire

  • An invitation on the Talk mailing list to a Community Webinar about the improvement of mapping residential areas initiates some criticism about the way that landuse=residential is used in some HOT mapping projects. Christoph Hormann explains why from his point of view you cannot use the same assumptions as used in Europe in regions where most people work in the primary sector (agriculture).

  • OpenMapTiles a mis au point une carte qui montre les noms de lieux en différentes langues.

  • Mapbox presents “Whaam!” a map style inspired by the pop art movement, in particular, the work of Andy Warhol, James Rosenquist and Roy Lichtenstein. True eye candy!

Données ouvertes

  • Dmitrij Kožuch is planning an open landuse map for Africa based on available data sources. The main source probably will be OSM.

  • The Guardian and GiGL have worked together to produce an open data set (currently only available through GiGL’s dropbox) of privately-owned public spaces (squares, plazas, parks etc) for Greater London.

Applications

  • L’instance Overpass API (overpass-api.de) avait des problèmes suite à une panne d’électricité. Les requêtes de Métadonnées (  out meta ; ) ne fonctionnaient pas. Le problème est maintenant résolu.
