Around 9 billion nodes have been created in OSM not 10 billion, as has been pointed out at essentially every occasion similar fake news has turned up, ids are pre-allocated and often not used. Please please improve your fact checking.
Thank you for pointing out this detail. We have way too less people to “fact check” and are always happy to get more proof-readers, who have the knowledge to identify such issues. Please send a mail to info@weeklyosm.eu and we can get you an account in the OSMBC
I’m sorry. I thought that the existence of 10.000.000.000’th node is implying that OSM already has 10 billion nodes. Could you please give me details regarding “id pre-allocation”? I dont know about that.
Hey hey, thanks for featuring me in the weeklyosm with node 10Billion.
Ps. My name is misspelled, it’s CasGroenigen not CasGroeningen.
Sorry for that, I have corrected the typo.
Thank you!
In polish version of this newsletter “zdeprecjonowanie” is used, but that’s not a correct translation for the word “deprecate” which i think was used in original.
